I really appreciate well kept old cars. They were usually built better than our newer ones, and lasted longer. For me, the sensors are such a pain for car owners. So ridiculously expensive to replace if needed for registration/inspection purposes. I do not remember our neighborhood in the 50's and 60's having highly polished cars with gleaming tires and hubcaps. Most people drove 5 to 10 year old cars without any glitz. I appreciate that kind of old car.
I would never belittle a small car. My owns a small car - a Nissan Versa Sedan. She gets 45 miles per gallon and I only get 25 mpg in my Chevy Impala, but I feel safer in my big car than she does in her small one.
There's an old vintage car club here that shows off their cars. These members get together - after leaving work I saw these old cars. Saw a really old Turquioise stuedabaker.

I used to have a 51 Packard with a straight 8 engine and mohair plush seats.
I do too
I like the old cars better than the cars now

You could tell which car company produced whatever model - they all looked different. Now, they virtually look the same.

I love old cars. My mom and dad had an old Studebaker when I was a kid. My husband had 2 Olds 442's, 72 pickup, and several other antique cars. I loved them better than my '14 Fusion. I wish we had the Olds fixed up and restored but we had to sell them as we had no money to put in them, especially my Brown Bomber.

Mamag When I moved to Canada in the sixties I bought my first car and it was a Studebaker Lark - probably worth a mint these days. Hugs.

My Dearly Beloved had a Studebaker at one time. He called it a "Stupidbaker", as it was always breaking down. (What do you expect when you pay $100 for the thing! )

Most antiques are worth a lot of money if they can be restored to original state. Aknan, I love the "Stupidbaker".

Hi Jamp, mine was blue as well. I bought it when I moved to Canada and got it home from the car yard OK, but when I went out later for a drive, because we drive on the other side of the road, kept reminding myself of that and I tootled off down the wrong side of the road until a motorist coming towards me began to light his lights and blow his horn and I realized I was on the wrong side and moved very smartly to the other side lol. I was OK after that incident. Hugs.
A very old car indeed. I drove an Austin A30 for a long time, very small car and a truck ran into the back of it, so had it painted a bright yellow. Trouble with that was that everyone knew where I was lol.

Aussie, I was unfamiliar with the Austin A30, so I googled it. What a classy looking car! I know what you mean about everyone knowing where you are, I drive a Chevy HHR, and it's bright red. One day my SIL told me you were at.....sure enough, I was! lol He can spot my car from a mile away. One day I was stopped at a red light when I heard my phone text-message alert. Since I was stopped, I checked it out, and there was a picture of my car! Yep, SIL was stopped almost next to me. lol Silly man.

After being discharged from the USMC in 1953, we drove a 1947 Buick Roadmaster from CA to MASS; then back to CA and finally, to MO. The guys on duty at the gate to Pendleton would see that big blue car coming and quickly move the stop-sign onto the raised step so we wouldn't take it with us. LOL

Yep, Aussie, it's easier to believe a lie or a story you've heard a thousand times than the truth when first revealed. And, more often than not, the truth won't seep into one's heart unless they're seeking it. Most often we encounter folks who say, "My mind's made up. Don't confuse me with facts." Changing one's opinion is the hardest thing some folks can ever do.
This old car parked on the grass reminds me of another joke. An old man living alone in South Armagh (Northern Ireland), whose only son was in Long Kesh Prison, didn't have anyone to dig his garden for his potatoes. So he wrote to his son about his predicament.
The son sent the following reply: "For heaven's sake, DON'T dig the garden up! That's where I buried the guns! "
.
At 3 AM the next morning, a dozen British soldiers turned up and dug about the garden for three hours, but didn't find any guns.
Confused, the man wrote to his son telling him what had happened and asking him, "What should I do now? "
The son sent the following reply: "NOW -- plant the potatoes! "
Hope you've had a wonderful evening and bright morning by the time you've read this. Hugs, Aussie.

Baby Austin is so cute! I love small cars! My parents had an Austin-Healy Sprite in 1960 in rural Nebraska and they used to take it out in the snow and get it stuck...crazy but they had a ball. The farmers always knew where they were. :)

I think you had great parents! lol Those are the cutest little cars, but definitely not meant for snow. I'm surprised the snow didn't cover that car!
I just don't know. It has a kind of old Nash look to it as well, but not boxy enough.

Rahrah, I believe it's a foreign make, not US. There's no hood ornament or other identifier on the car, but the license plate is an older European style. It reminds me of an old Opel, perhaps from the 30s.
