Becky, I posted an asnwer to your question on the two doors, but I did it on lilbc's post. Hope you get a chance to read it.

Never did find what you wrote about the two doors. Sometimes they take things away so fast.

Becky, sometimes "great" houses had an additional, smaller entrance door that opened directly into the courtyard and allowed entry/exit without opening the big doors that lead directly into the main household.

Aknan, Very interesting. Thanks again for helping me understand.
Quite often, a smaller entry door was built to the side of the main entrance. Made it easier to come and go without opening the big doors. Sometimes, too, it wasn't really a door, but a guard post. Hard to tell in the picture.

I meant to say "Not" always easy.....not "Now" always easy. Aknan I'm glad you explained the smaller door. I wasn't sure what it was for. Also the floor level might be different for the two different doors? I can't really tell. It makes for any interesting puzzle, though.

The floor level could easily be different, as the main doors went up to the living quarters, while the smaller one opened directly from the courtyard.
There are always angels by your side. Have a great day!
