Thank you and good evening to you too. I will be signing out soon myself. I baked a little today and finally got kitchen cleaned up. Still have a few things to do before starting to watch tv. Enjoy your reading and get a good nights rest.
I'm not sure about that! I received a gorgeous Christmas bouquet delivered by a florist. It couldn't have been more beautiful--but then some of the flowers began to open. I figured out that they were white lilies. They smelled awful and sort of like stuff that old- fashioned men used from the barber shop or? I understand that some people don't like them either. I had to put the beautiful bouquet in the guest bathroom where I couldn't smell it.
I used to be a church secretary (before becoming disabled) and I dreaded funerals and Easter because all the flower arrangements contained lilies. The smell is not only obnoxious, it brings on an allergy attack in me. I would have to leave the office or worship service early because I couldn't breathe. Then someone taught me a secret...If you remove the stamens (the little pokey things in the center that are covered in yellow dust), the smell goes away. But be sure and use a cloth or paper towel or your fingers will smell for days! Get all the dust (pollen) out of the flower, too!

Actually, it's the anthers that are on the stamens that need to be taken off. It's the anthers that contain the pollen which causes the odor. Also, if the anthers are not taken off the pollen will shed onto the lilies and make terrible stains on the petals.

Good to know. Thanks! I will work on them if I ever receive any again!
