This reminds me of a gift shop in Stowe, Vermont which had low, display shelves which were lit from underneath. They looked lovely with bone china cups and saucers and other fragile niceties. One of the shelves was also the napping place for the resident cat. He would hop up, carefully make his was to a space partially cleared for him and curl up amidst the finery and have a heated nap! The owners said he never broke a thing!
Very interesting comment. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My dream was to have a bookstore with a log stove, a braided rug and a cat roaming around. Sounds similar to this lovely Vermont gift shop.
At first it looks like the books are against the wall but on further observation I think there is some distance as the top book is sitting at an angle with a coffee cup on it.
We'll never know!
