I just bought myself a "grown up" coloring book and am currently coloring an owl! What a coincidence. Coloring can be very relaxing, with a sense of accomplishment when you finish a picture. This book is full of paisley, swirly fun that you can do in any array of colors - purple, green, yellow, psychedelic pictures that are far from realistic but very fun. Loving it.
God bless you all. May you day be filled with relaxation and color.
And, for you artist out there, I DO NOT pretend it is fine art, only the ramblings of an imaginative mind. Raised in the psychedelic sixties.

Nlb, as long as you are having a good time that's what counts. Color on!

I am just remembering a long conversation on here about what did and did not constitute fine art. While my pictures are, of course, coming out really beautiful and ready to mount and hang, No way could these on my wall come close to what the wonderful artist on here can do. Did not want to imply and comparison at all! I normal would not hang psycho - delic "art" on my walls. Anything "psycho" (I know it's spelled psychedelic) does not belong on a wall. On a refrigerator, perhaps, with the grandchildren's "art". I don't know why I'm making such a big deal of this. It is fun and relaxing and I will never show it to any of you, so it's all in my (colorful, imaginative) head anyway. God bless you all and thanks for putting up with my rambling. Been a little lonely lately. nlb

Nlb, my Dearly Beloved used coloring books when he was working out a stained glass project. He said it relaxed his mind and let the designs flow more freely. Had to stop doing the stained glass - the fumes from the flux are very hard on your stomach and he had ulcers then. So color away!

Thank you for the encouragement, both of you. The way many of these pictures are drawn, they do come out like stained glass. I am loving doing them and letting my imagination run free. God bless you both.

They also use them to calm patients in psych hospitals. Yes, the voice of experience!

Nlb, maybe we'd have less psych patience if they were able to color BEFORE getting to the point where they needed the hospital. :) I've been tempted to try one of those coloring books, but just haven't done it yet. I think you've inspired me to give it a try! I like the idea of hanging them on the fridge too.

Hi, I'm sorry that I have not posted muchover the last few months. I did spend 4-5 months in hospital during the summer having a series of skin grafts and Thanks be to God the final one worked and within a few days I was home. Now I am sorry to say but another area of the same leg is being a problem it is only a small one and should heal in no time.
I will try to do better in thr future and write a comment or two just to let you know what is happening. Christmas has been lovely this year being able to take part in the day. God bless you all grant you a New year that will have at least 365 days of blessings

It's wonderful to "hear" from you, dear lady. You know, when you pray for someone a lot, there's a tie that binds. That tie is God's love. We have that love that binds us, as we pray for one another. I'm glad you're seeing improvement in your leg, it's been a real battle for you, I know. I'm sure you will have many people praying for that one spot that's giving you some trouble now. Be blessed, dear sister, as you are a blessing to so many others.

Guess what I got in my Christmas stocking? Yeppers, a coloring book. It pictures of the Rainforest, I'm looking forward to starting on it soon.
I had a record that played the owl in the oak song. The rest of it goes:
There was an old rooster who lived down the road;
The less he heard the more he crowed.
The more he crowed, the less he heard.
Let's not be like that silly old bird.

A wise bird indeed!
"A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren't we like that wise old bird? "
Who said that?
"Alone and warming his five wits, the white owl in the belfry sits."
Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Q: What did the grape say when the Owl stood on it?
A: Nothing, it just let out a little wine!
LOL - good night dear friends, God bless all of you. Hugs.
