I don't know why, but Indian corn, as this is called in northern Illinois always screams "Fall" to me! I love the colors! I guess it is kind of an "announcer" for Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays! Blessing to all!
How nice that something has the same name all around the country! And how sad that I was so uninformed. Thank you, trynfindit and nlbuchanan for helping me learn something new today!

This year I decorated the dining room table with a copper soup terrine with Indian corn, waxed leaves, small apples and little gourds. Are you getting snow? It's going to get cold here.

Today was our last warm day, it was actually quite humid. Tomorrow it gets cold, air a bit dryer. So looking forward to it. Tired of the humidity.

Looks like we will range in 40's to 60's in the days
and in 20's to 40's over nights for the next 9 days!
We may have more snow that usual, not looking good for us. Will need to stock up on food for us, Dennis' can't get around in the snow or ice.
That was a little difficult but enjoyable. Pretty colors. This kind of corn has always interested me. What does it look like fresh, is it edible? I really know nothing about this type of corn, will have to google it. You all be extra safe and have a wonderful weekend.
It's called "Indian Corn" darambo and you'll see lots of info on google. Every time I put it up, the chipmunks and squirrels work very hard to get to it!

It is edible when younger, but mostly folks let it dry and use it in displays.

Akan thanks for the info, had no idea it was edible. Wondered if it could be ground up to make flour then used for indian fry bread or some other unleavened type bread. How is your hubby doing? Be safe.

Xyxyxyxx yes now that you have reminded me it is called indian corn. I love our chipmunks and squirrels they tease our dogs. Love to watch our big squirrel bark at our dogs from high up in the pines, so very funny. Take care and be safe.

Darambo, he's recovered well from the fusion surgery, but still has pain in his neck & shoulders. Those muscles & nerves have ben under so much stress all these years that it may take more time for them to truly relax. Thanks so much for asking!
Like all corn, Indian Corn can be ground into flour and used for cooking. The grains are generally small, so it may take a bunch of ears. Could make a pretty breading.
I'd like beads in those colors. I enjoyed this puzzle because the whole thing is in focus. I'm not partial to the ones with blurry backgrounds.
Hope you all have a very restful night.
