Lovely site. I'm wondering, however. It looks to me like the house has no foundation. Could that be? Also, where is a door? Maybe one is on the other side, I hope?
The foundation is hidden by the plants. A typical one would be made of local stone. The door is under the overhang in the center of the photo. This is the quintessential English, chocolate box, thatched cottage.

Traditional small village with red brick houses and canals: Giethoorn, the Netherlands
As lovely as that house is I fear it would always smell of mildew. It sure has a beautiful garden. I love hydrangeas. I have three but they don't bloom.
It is not English. It is Dutch.
