I remember cotton ones and linen ones also. However ours were not that fancy!

I can remember using cotton napkins and also having to iron them. No thank you. I will take paper ones. You can buy ordinary ones or some very pretty ones if you want to impress someone! These look like you might not have to iron them, but they would snag easy.

These are pretty and the colors would go well with my dining area. Here we go again with snow and frigid temps. So much for global warming. LOL

Funny you should mention that. A friend just sent an email saying because the sun's activity is lower than expected we are in for a mini ice age. Ha! That harkens to the 90's when the ozone layer was supposed to cause that. Does any one really have any idea? It makes you skeptical.

Yes, it does make one skeptical.

I so agree! My electric bill reflects this! Wish I could make my Landlord replace the water heater! It leaks and is the pitts and he wants me to dump a 100 gallons of water too. We also pay through the nose for water here like it was gold! He does not understand as he has well water.

All three of my homes had well water. Many in the neighborhood were forced off their wells by a development which put a huge one in at a deeper level and it gobbled up all their water. They had to go on town water even though they were here first and for the most part were poor. The development of richer homes were allowed to keep their big well that serviced the development. Our well has not been affected by the encroaching developments (TBTG) so we have not gone on city water.

Don't I know it! Some years ago we put the house up for sale ( about a month b4 the big real estate crash) and one of the people who came to look objected to not having city water piped in. I told him our well never ran out but you could not convince him. He was very young and did not want to buy it so he was trying to show his wife it was a bad deal. She and her son loved it. Just as well we could not sell.

When I see red and white cloth napkins I can't help thinking of Lady and the Tramp in the Italian restaurant with the music Bella Notte playing.
We are finally hitting the iron cold temps of winter. With these sub zero
nights the lake will be frozen solid and the ice fishermen will probably have their contest this year. They have already picked their spots on the lake. I enjoy seeing them but not so much the ski mobiles and 4x4's that start racing all over it day and night. I hate the buzz of the motors.
Stay inside if you can. Try using ski pants with a hot water bottle tucked on your belly if you have to be out for an extended time. May God watch over you.

Hi pixi, thanks for painting that picture of ice fishing in my mind. We don't have snow in the caribbean so that iced lake sounds enticing to me. Blessed day.

Thanks, Malko. You too. I could use a picture of a tropical waterfall. Got any around you? I like doing paintings of them.

Which lake? I don't like fishing, but the people who do have already been out on Lake Erie, in the small boat harbor!

Hi GrandmaN
Ours is a small local affair. You who live on Lake Erie would consider it hardly more than a big puddle, and would need to live here to know it at all.

Lovely napkins. I keep picturing spaghetti sauce on the white ones. Maybe I'll have to use the others with my red sauce.
God bless you today and every day. May He watch over and protect you, giving healing to your infirmities.
I am so glad I can speak however I wish here without someone saying "don't use those $10 words! " (infirmities). I have read voraciously for most of my life and get tired of talking "country". There is always a more beautiful way to express yourself if you look for it. nlb

OMG; when I read your remark about talking "country", it reminded of my first years in the midwest. I came from the Boston area, so I had to put up with people making fun of my accent. But, for the life of me, I could NOT understand the "hick country" accents or their quirky phrases...such as....when speaking about not understanding something....they would say...."Well, in all my "put-together", I've never heard of...whatever. LOL. So, we all had something to learn about each other's phrases, mannerisms, etc. I had already lived in different areas among different folks...I was in the military. So, I was used to a lot of different figures of speech. Perhaps the most difficult area for me to understand was the speech of Louisiana folks...way southern Louisiana. Anyway, Bostonians always had to put up with people making fun of our way of dropping an "a" and replacing with an "r" and vice-versa....car became "cah", and "versa" would become "verser". Ah well, it made for interesting conversation. LOL

You reminded me of my roommate from college, she was from NY and we never did get bags & sacks straighted out or pop and soda, but had lots of fun. Was sorry we lost track of each other over the years.

Reminds me of when I first came to New Zealand (1959! ). Instead of "Goodbye", Kiwis used to say "Hooray". A bit disconcerting when you say, "Well, I have to go now" and they say, "Hooray"!!!!!!

I have a cloth napkin but I always forget to take it with me. I usually end up wearing my menu, just look at my clothes. Well you can't take me anywhere fancy...unless I take my cloth napkin with me. LOL! Lots of snow tonight over here!!!
