Rpayne14 --- Your mention of John Adams interested me. Many years ago, I worked as a guide for two or three summers at the Adams National Historic Site in Quincy, MA. All the furnishings are original (not just period pieces). It was home to four generations of Adamses. The garden is a traditional English garden with only flowers of that era. Very low boxwood hedges line the walkways. If someone blindfolded me an took me to that garden, I would know where I was --- the aroma is unique to that place.
A saltbox house is a gable-roofed residential structure that is typically two stories in the front and one in the rear. Named for the shape of the container used to hold salt in colonial times, these homes have a steeply sloped roof that is much longer on one side than the other. Common in New England, and back in the 18th century, housed many famous pioneers and patriots, including John Adams. I love the history behind homes and in general. Sorry for the long drawn out explanation. Have a historic wonderful day.

Don't be sorry. I am just glad you saw this and explained it to me. It was very interesting. Not many people write back to me. I have needed some prayers for me and for others and I guess saw them. I am behind most everyone. I do mine at night and every one else has already done theirs. As soon as I get on I go back about 24 hours to catch up on what people have said. It only takes a couple minutes and then I respond to some. Thank you for responding to me.
