Ah gee. Pictures like this give me the urge to get on the road again. Arches National Park in Utah isn't even all that far from where I live. Utah has some very wonderful sights to see. Sigh.
Been there twice. Three times to southern Utah. Wish I could live there.
Ever been to Capital Reef? It's another wow. It's only about 3 hours from Arches. We went across UT from Arches and saw the Reef; Bryce; Cedar Breaks and Zion.
It was my favorite trip. We never got to Canyonlands.

Pixi, Canyonlands is amazingly magnificent. To stand on the rim and look out over miles of sheer, snaking canyons carved by water - I simply can't describe the feeling of awe this inspired in me. Sorry you missed it - it would have caught your painter's heart completely!

I'm sure it would, Aknan. I want to go back but this year we plan on the northwest instead. Don't know if I'll be alive long enough to see it again. No real health worries--just a premonition.

Do hope you can drive thru the Olympic Nat'l Forest - it's an amazing rain forest in a cool climate. Wish I could recommend some places for you to visit, but it's been over 40 years since I was just touring; now, it's almost all business....

That's exactly where we're going along with a day side trip to see the waterfalls in Mt. Ranier Park.
We're spending a few days on the SE corner; sw corner and nw corner of Olympic. I'm most interested in the sea stacks and tide pools.

Did you see both the Quinault and the Hoh? Which is better?

Just looked at websites - I think the Hoh might have more meaning for you. Envy you the sea stacks and tide pools. Bring boots!
We just got back from a two week trip thru UT, AZ & NV. Don't know if I saw this exact spot, but did see many similar places. Just enough to take your breath away. What a truly magnificant country we are fortunate to live in!
