Back in the 80s any self-respecting coffee shop, bakery or breakfast bar sold fresh croissants. Sadly, now they're impossible to find unless you want industrial stuff wrapped in plastic. Apple tart has gone the same way.

If you have a Dunkin' donuts near you, they have a nice croissant. We have one inside our Walmart and I will get one occasionally if my husband and I are out early. I get it warmed up but without any spread.

You're right! I haven't seen an apple tart in years. We have a grocery store chain in town that has a bakery that makes devine croissants. Have a wonderful day, orinoco.

Should have specified, in S. Spain. We don't have all the American chains here quite yet. No Walmart, no Dunkin' Donuts etc. Croissants are a European invention, but I guess the fashion passed.

Ah, it is too bad that the best ideas get lost as the time passes.

That's a shame, orinoco - the croissants, not the chain stores. A well-made croissant is a work of art for the taste buds.
