My Dad, an avid hunter, found a couple abandoned babies and brought them home when I was a young girl. They got out of their cages in the basement and made a real mess of our kitchen upstairs. Followed the flour tracks into the bedroom and they were hiding under the bed. The little rascals. PS..we did not keep them as pets and let them loose in the woods when they were a few weeks older.
Raccoons can be pretty intelligent and sneaky. They're one reason why you have to be careful if you have dog doors. Raccoons love to get into trash or get any other easily accessed food.
