Went to a funeral today of a very dearly loved lady from our church who died last week at 82. The church was overflowing and the tributes very touching. It is nice to know that she is in a better place with the One who meant so much to her.
This is a poem I wrote last year
Death Is But A Stepping Stone
Death is but a stepping stone
To those who know the Lord,
Followers of Jesus
And His holy Word.
He has promised wondrous things
When our journey here is done,
To see him face to face
This great and precious Son.
He will take us by the hand
And lead us to the shore
To show the Heavenly wonders
And for us the pain He bore,
So that we may share it all
With Him and those who've gone
The bubbling joy within
Breaks forth into a song.
The grave will hold no fear
Oh death where is thy sting
Just open up your heart
Let Him teach you how to sing.
No more pain and no more tears
When He calls us home
So know beloved ones
Death is but a stepping stone.
Did you show that to your pastor? It would make a lovely card to give out at funerals for any and all who come to the service.

Dear Aussie, I am so sorry to hear about your friend's passing.
Sending a gentle hug your way,
To comfort you,
And to let you know
that you're on my mind and in my heart today and always
I love that poem. God bless you and the family that lost a dear loved one.

Beautiful poem, aussie. And how hopeful it should make all who read it. I agree with pixipixil that it would make a lovely card to be given out so all who are there would feel the hope too.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. And yes, I have given it to my pastor. For some reason my gift has not been used in our church, maybe it will be posthumusly lol. When I was married 18 months ago, one of my poems was in the order of service and my pastor read it out and said that I had commented that the only way to have one of my poems read in church was to get married!!!!! And that I do not intend doing again :) God has blessed me with over 650 of them and I know when the time is right, they will be used as He is not a God of wasting gifts. Thank you all again. Hugs.

I neglected to express my sympathies, Aussie and now for your loss, Eveningstar. As you can see, Aussie, your gifts are very much appreciated here so God is using them right now. It is a shame that we seldom get recognition from the place that purports to be there for us--our parishes. I have had several poems run in the diocesan paper but in church except for one person saying in private to me they liked it, they were ignored completely.

Thank you Pixi, can only say that God's ways are not our ways. I produced a book of the poems God has given me, 1000 copies and managed to sell 500. Now I just give them away and trust that God will use them where they are needed. Take care. Hugs.

That's impressive. Poetry is not easy to sell. Congratulations, Aussie. You can see just from this site how God uses you. It makes you feel wonderful when He does. I consider my poems about God from Him also. Don't know about the other stuff (lol)

What a wonderful outlook on life! You are to be commended. If everyone had such a good outlook on life, what a beautiful world it would be everyday.
What a pretty design, how in the world would you go about getting those flowers into those pillows? But I think I would not put them there! Much nicer without them?
