My 2 brothers and I picked strawberries for our grandparents when we lived with them. Our town was the strawberry capital of the world for several years, and we would host a Strawberry Festival in Deary, Idaho. That is 23 miles to the east of Moscow, Idaho. Grandma and some other ladies made some VERY DELICIOUSLY-SCRUMPTIOUS strawberry shortcake. It makes my mouth water right now thinking about it!!!!!!!
I remember picking strawberries years ago in Plant City, Fl. On the way home I had to stop for "car inspection" then. I had my haul of strawberries on the front seat floor. All they did was look at them and I gave them a few after they passed my car inspection.
No matter how luscious they look I was ready to throw the whole shebang into the garbage if the didn't fall into place about the time they did! Tough, tough puzzle! Very challenging, very frustrating, very fun.
God bless you all and may all your strawberries be sweet!
I love strawberries. My grandmother had a cousin that had a strawberry farm when I a kid through my 20's. And I can say that strawberries taste their best when you pick them yourself and eat them in the field. And with the farm owner being family I got away with eating as many as I wanted to. Great memories.
Same here, glowbug. It was pick one, eat two. We still managed to freeze many gallons to get through the winter and have plenty of strawberries for shortcake, ice cream and cereal all summer, too.
God bless you all and may all your strawberries be sweet!
