Hi CatLadyOKC, Yes they are down the street from us, but the smoke is blowing in the other direction. We're being told to watch out for the wildlife that is being displaced. They may end up in our neighborhood. No walking around in the evening. Feel sorry for these animals. Wildcats, bears, lots of turkeys in this area.

I'm in Florida as well. We have numerous Eagles nests within a five mile radius. Hubby and I have even seen a Bobcat directly outside the building. One year the interstate was completely closed due to a brush fire. Stay safe Tomandray.

Live in Cape Coral and there's been a couple in the cape and north fort myers but not near me but can smell them. I can't wait until the rainy season to get us out of the dry season. Lee County is in the extreme alert.

Oh yes I knew that Cape Coral was above Fort Myers. I live in Naples and I travel to Punta Gorda frequently. I heard many raves about Reubens BBQ. We tried a couple new (to us their new) restaurants. We both went omg! The food was that good. One year my 93 year old told me she was leaving town when I-75 was closed due to the brush fire. You could literally smell the smoke from the fire. One year I walked two blocks and the moon was just above the trees and it was dark orange. Then one year we both saw a Bobcat. I didn't go outside. Then we had a gator in the lake behind the building. Yes a trapper was called.

Hi CatLady and all, The fires are still around this area, extremely dry out there. No rain in site. We need the rain real bad. In Tampa off I-75 there was a very bad fire, just seems to be all over.
Had a tough week this week. Went out grocery shopping, came home to a large snake in the driveway. Neighbor and hubby got it to move along. Next day I came down with a stomach virus. Been down ever since. Just starting to feel better. I lost 12 lbs from this virus. Couldn't keep a thing in me. Just totally worn down and I haven't done a thing all week.
Well, all of you keep safe and have a good Easter.

Take care of yourself....have to pick up son at airport this evening...flying in from Chicago. Has been east in Penn. & Virginia for a few days. Looking at storms tomorrow in fact most of the week off & on. We are all doing good this week, hubby has been grumpy all week but he will get over it. Crickett is enjoying the warmer temps outside most of the days...just comes in to use his puppy pads...he is a mess these days...he sends you purrs & nose touches. Take care & stay safe...Hugs from all of us. Have good Easter...!

Tomandray hope your feeling better. Growing up I had to go into the doc office because I was so sick. One year we had a huge drought. The grass was brown and we needed water desperately. The snake in the driveway - if it was black it sounds like a black racer - they aren't venomous but snakes make me squirmish. I went to take our dog outside and several feet from the mailbox. Our neighbor was at the mailbox with her daughter. The next thing I heard was a shriek - went to investigate and it was nothing.

If you live in Florida you can experience something called red tide symptoms. I knock on wood that I didn't experience those effects. A co-worker of mine ended up in the ER. His situation happened on a Sunday and he couldn't breathe. Oh he was so fun to work with. Clients would call and say Larry I have those numbers you need. He'd reply yeah what your golf score lol

One day hubby and I arrived home and we found a small snake in the driveway. It was on the edge of the garage door. One year I wasn't happy at all with what one of our landscapers had done to the back exit gate. I didn't hire them - an assoc. hired them. This driver decided to go through the exit gate. The truck cleared but not their trailer with equip. This action caused 20K in damages to the gate. I'm sure the mgr. and owner would have been livid.

Yeah true - my niece came 25 yards from a bear. We all were up in Alaska - and a guide was next to her. She started to run and the guide stopped her and said no! if you run the bear will think you're prey. Really nervous - having surgery tomorrow. Hope it goes fast. It's outpatient procedure - maybe I won't be doing anything tomorrow evening.

Thanks folks - I arrived home and my throat was really sore - they stuck a tube down it. I was just waking up yesterday and the doctor goes out to the waiting room and asks hubby to run to a pharmacy. He had ordered anti nausea and pain meds. Now he wants to do another surgery. Ugh! with a nurse over there. Large fibriods - and severe pain. The nurse says "Oh she's used the restroom this many times". In his office I told him in pre op about how I felt. I usually feel fine - and am very busy. Cooking, baking and household stuff. Now I don't want to do anything. This has been going on for a few months.

Catlady - it was exploratory surgery - fibriods. I wasn't feeling well for two days. The day of surgery and the day after. Then hubby was trying to get me to do stuff. Wasn't real happy with a nurse - she tells the staff oh she's used the restroom this many times. I wanted to tell oh thanks I'll alert the media. Then the doctor said he was going to talk to me about another surgery. Much more pain and down time. I won't be able to do anything for weeks!
Such magnificent birds, our eagles! I've been tracking them since 1977 (finding nests, watching the eaglets learn to fly an feed themselves, etc. We see more bald eagles here in southcentral AK, but more golden in the interior. We're experienced in watching and the birds usually don't even notice us, but my Dearly Beloved had one knock his hat off when he unknowingly got too close to a nest.
i have never seen a golden eagle
