That will be a hard place to heat with those high ceilings. Looks kind of industrial rather than homey. I wouldn't like my door right at the edge of those stairs either. And what's with the current fad for grey interiors? I do a lot of online shopping for real estate and see way too much grey.
I'd be doing a lot of stairing in this house. In the short hall it might be okay.

A very pretty home. When I was a child our old farm house had a lot of stairs but they went straight up with a door at the bottom. My job was to dust them and the banister and railing at the top at the side. Mom told me dad lived there with his parents and she was visiting before they were married. She went upstairs to the bathroom and on the way down she slipped and slide down and out the door on her bottom. What a way to make an entrance to perspective in-laws!!
