Enjoyed yet another of your jigsaws, many moons ago when our children was small and in the nursery school the teacher asked the young ones if they had a pet whom would like to bring to school and if not if the parents would like to buy one to keep at school, yes I bought one small guinea pig and took it to school for the young ones to enjoy, not realising at holiday times it would have to come and live with whom ever bought it, well home it came with cage and all the paraphernalia not realising the pet came to life at night time round it did run on it's wheel and it's little cheeks full of food, well next day the children whom live near by ask if it could have a bath out side, as this was summer time I agreed and got every thing ready and it was having a whale of a time, went to fetch a towel to dry it off and one of the children asked if they could hold it, they did and low and behold it nipped the little one, yes you have guessed it ran into a crack in the wall, we looked every where for the guinea pig, but never found it.
so that was the end of the guinea pig and I never offered to have another one.
Dog and a cat yes they could have but this put me of this kind of pet.
I was really surprised to hear that your guinea pig was nocturnal. I had a hamster once who behaved exactly as you mention, but at one time I had 17 guinea pigs, and not one of them was anything but daytime lively. All were affectionate, many would snuggle into my neck and all enjoyed being handled and petted. Watching them swimming in a shallow bath was a joy to behold but the truly amazing thing about them was watching the babies being born, fully clothed and very beautiful, and the mommas didn't mind you holding them almost as soon as they were born. Very sociable, funny pets with an amazing range of sounds. If my health was better and I could keep up with cleaning them out I would have them again because I still miss having them around.

Megat....I realize this is a year and a half after your postings, but I was thinking the same thing! I'm glad SantaClaus remembered that it was a hamster!!!! I have- oops, I mean my grandson has! - 4 little girl piggies. So so cute and sweet and very much awake all day and sleeping at night! They don't use a wheel because it's bad for their backs- that would definitely be hamsters! I used to breed guinea pigs, which is why I encouraged my grandson to get them. Lucky me, he lives with me, so I get all the pleasure of them, too!
Good Day to All!
Late start today...weather radio got us up in middle of the night, with storms...just straight line winds, lightening and rain! But it was noisey for several hours! Slept late this morning.
Looks very suspicious as thought another animal is about to pounce. My sister had a neighbour who had about 200 of these guinea pigs and the sawdust from their cages made excellent garden mulch.

Do you think this little fellow looks happy?

Be happy life is just too short to be otherwise. God bless all you lovely puzzlers. Take care. God bless.
