Hippos are supposedly the most dangerous animals in Africa - they kill more humans than lions. They don't seem dangerous, but they can be really vicious - especially when defending themselves.
There used to be a TV show called "New Zoo Revue" with 3 animal characters (huge foam-like costumes). One of the characters was Henrietta Hippo.
"so follow me, follow - down to the hollow,
and there let us wallow
in glo-o-o-orious mud! "
I always loved Ian Wallace's version of that wonderfully mad song :-))
Looks like they all did what he said, jiggler. I had the great pleasure of hearing Flanders and Swann sing it at the Liverpool Empire, (more years ago than I'd care to rmemember! ) They were hilariously funny.

Oh, netta, how lucky are you! They were just brilliant - their records still crack me up. Remember "have Some Madeira, My Dear"?

Yes, jiggler, and love it. But I think my favourite is 'the Gas Man Cometh'

My grandma taught me all these songs and being from Yorkshire she also taught me 'on Ikely moor batat'. I loved learning all the old songs.

Hi Marie19, I used to be in the part-time army, then called the Citizens Military Forces, now the Army Reserve, and we had an English girl who taught us all that song, pretty gross but fun to sing and gave us a lot of laughs. The bit about the worm was um......interesting lol.

So I had to consult Auntie Google to get the full lyrics (only knew the chorus really) and aussie, I see what you mean about the worms.....what you might call the ultimate recycling!!!!

Hi jiggler: I loved Flanders and Swan, and my favorite was also "Have some Madiera, My dear, It's really much nicer than beer". I can't remember much of the rest, but they were such clever entertainers My brother and I used to laugh ourselves silly listening to their records.
