Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you are enjoying all the cooking. I'd imagine any baking is being done a day ahead. The cooking smells on Thanksgiving all always so wonderful.
May the day turn out to be as happy as you anticipate.
Please pray for my friend. His wife broke her leg and is in hospital. She seems to have some form of dementia but he is in denial about that and he knows he can't bring her home but hasn't told her. They have to use a special lift in the hospital to get her into a wheel chair. She is heavy and he's too small to hold her. That's how she broke her leg. He was trying to help her into the bathroom when her leg gave out and snapped. The leg is healing well but he is afraid the hospitalization will last longer than his medicare coverage. I'm not saying names because I know God will know who you are praying for and he would be embarassed about it although he's a Christian. Thank you.
Such a sad situation, especially just before a holiday. I pray for both of them.

Thank you so much aknan and trynfindit. He is in a terrible state of worry. I am concerned he will have a breakdown. At the moment his wife is well taken care of so I worry less about her for now. Mostly my concern is that she doesn't contract some disease from having to be in the hospital such a long time.

Prays for your friends. My mom was living with us because she had dementia. She fell and broke her pelvic bone. She ended up in a nursing home because we couldn't take care of her anymore. Things like that are so sad. My intention for getting on was to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. It will just be my husband and me. I made my broccoli salad. Sam bought enough for me to triple it but I just doubled it. He said I could eat everything he makes and he would eat all the salad. I'll have to keep an eye on him while he is cooking. Ha. My broccoli salad and his potato salad is always a request. Since covid we haven't gone to church. We both have things that could make it dangerous for us. When we were going he didn't dare come when they had a meal without his potato salad. The pastors wife even brought the things he would need because she said she couldn't cook but that wasn't for church. It was for some company they had coming to visit them. So funny but he was glad to make it. Well have a good day everyone.

Hi beckydent. Thank you for praying for my friends.
It's so nice when you have something to give that people appreciate that much. We haven't gone to church either. We watch Mass on TV Sunday morning. They do a good job.
Enjoy your banquet. My husband and I are eating leftover manicotta from our anniversary in August.
If it doesn't have freezer burn it should be a treat.

My mother had Hoyer Lifts (I don't know the spelling), installed in her ceilings to lift her so she could stay at home. They were tracks put into the ceiling with a motor attached and control on a cord. She sat in a sling and was lifted by the mechanical lift. She had MS but was able to stay at home with only a helper until she died. The helper didn't have to do any heavy lifting because the lift did it all. The tracks went into the bathroom for toilet and shower, to the bed and to the living room to her chair. She sat on the sling all the time and was able to be moved into the wheel chair or anywhere she needed to go. Your friend should look into home medical supplies and maybe find something so his wife is able to be at home. My mother would have never been happy in a nursing home the last 15 years of her life. After being lifted into her wheel chair cart she drove herself to the store and everything.

Your friends have a long road ahead of them. It only takes a second for something to change your life forever. She will not understand why she can't go home if she has dementia. I pray for her husband because his life has changed. Do they have family close so they can take of him? When my husband went and brought my parents here we had to explain to dad why mom was so different. She started to get violent I remember him saying to her "Now Mary. Don't be that way". I was shocked because I don't think they had a cross word in their 64 years of marriage. I did giggle a little quietly. I wish we could talk to each other on the phone and maybe I could be of some help. My husband had the meal ready and the food on the table and candles lit. Usually we would go to the kitchen to fill our plates. I don't know how many times he said he thought that was the best Thanksgiving meal he and I ever had. It was very romantic and I don't ever remember him lighting candles for us. I told him he was probably enjoyed it more because we usually had people over and this time he could relax. He agreed.

Turned out when I looked in our freezer to heat the manicotti we had already eaten it all so I made do with making spaghetti. Oh well. The sauce turned out to be better than my usual at least.
