And I don't understand how taking down statues erases history??? We must never forget the history that was part of our country, good and bad. We learn from the mistakes and what was right. Forgetting isn't changing anything except how we do things today and many, many things don't need to be repeated.

I don't think the point is to change history or to forget history. It's to stop glorifying people who waged war against our country...enslaved people...practiced genocide...

You are so right. However it doesn't look like it is going to get any better.
Much easier then I thought. As to why these statues need to be taken down? Statues are a commutative to momentous change to honor others and occasions. Think of all the times and incidents where there are no statues to special events and people. These other images can be kept in our memory thru history books for those who are interested. They do not need to be on display like they are universally honored by everybody. These figures need to be remembered but not honored. Think of all the wonderous people and events where there is no public display. Why honor events and people who hurt multitudes of people. I surmise this is why there needs to be made changes. Photograph these statues and put these images in books stating why they were taking down because of increased popular awareness.
See this article about unusual lighting displays here in Dec.
We will see this next year!
