Don't care for this painting.

What's the difference between a cat and a comma? One has claws at the end of the paws. The other is a pause at the end of a clause!

Have a great day!

I agree Elijah13, it's not a very good painting. No real visual interest. Have a good day. It's going to be a hot one today.

I love the cat and comma "explanation"! That was quite good. How is your sister doing, elijah13? Blessings.

Hi to all! It hot here in the 90's again!
Son was here this weekend, he just left a few minutes.

" Velvet paw and deep blue eyes.
A twitching tail the truth belies.
The real hart of a cat will show
The wisdom and joy they know. unknown"

Have a Great Evening to all!

My sister seems to be doing much better. However, my niece's husband just got out of the hospital today. Was in for about 4 days--something about his heart--runs In family. Tomorrow is also their 40th wedding anniversary. They are the ones that do all kinds of things for me. I love them so much and would do anything for them.

Well, could you wish them a Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary from me, someone they have never of? Thanks!!

I will tell them. Kathy is the one that paid for my first year of this web site. She knows how much I love it.

If I had painted this in high school, my art teacher would have suggested that I balance the visual. There's a lot of weight on the upper left-hand side of the picture with the tree, but nothing on the lower right to offset this, I'm thinking maybe a mailbox? Any other thoughts?

The colors are pretty enough.

You are right about a poor composition. I don't think it's fixable.

A mailbox would not have been much of a help. Not a very nice painting. The colors are good. :)

A frog in the lower right-hand corner would add visual interest.

Yes, or a water bird. Thank you for your idea!

I'd like to see part of a rowboat pulled up onto the sand.

Yes, that would help balance the picture too and would suggest that someone is enjoying the outdoors. Nice.

If you want an honest critique of the painting rather than my copout here it is...The trees are too green and light. The light source is behind them so they should be a sihouette. Anything in the foreground woul;d have to also be in silhouette so if you choose to "demote" the scene to only background colors and put interesting silhouetted items--a couple watching the sunset...graceful plants possibly with fireflies alight by scrubbing out little circles of light...a bird or two fluffed out on a flowereing bush...that sort of thing. But you can't depend on color for interest, only shape because it must be a silhouette. How you might edge the silhouettes with some reflected light --again maybe drawing the shapes lightly and scrubbing out the edges facing the sunset then applying a bit of sunset color very lightly. let that dry completely them paint in the dark part of the silhouette.
Watercolor is extremely hard to "fix" because the two beauties of the medium are the transparency of it that lets the light of the paper create the highlights and the immediacy of it, both of which is destroyed when you work it over.

I have no knowledge of art composition but I kind of like this painting. I like the colors and it is peaceful. Completely based on feelings alone, no artistic talent.
