Well I got my Christmas miracle in the form of a Christmas Card from my daughter and even had written dear Mum inside the card. Always at Christmas I hope that I would hear from her, but never did and this Christmas I didn't even consider that a possibility and I DID hear from her. Praise God for his surprises.
What a wonderful surprise for you! I'm happy for you, Aussie. Have you quit smiling yet?

Awww - I'm so glad to you heard from her! I'll never forget one xmas - we all were at my moms. Sitting around chatting. My sil was there and suddenly my moms says to her "Oh C - Had some bad experiences in relationships so I just wanted you to know". I thought oh Geez! I said omg! Mom how is that positive and you're telling me to be positive. Can we move forward and focus on the past.

I'm glad your daughter sent you a card. GOD answers prayers, yours and your daughters. Sometimes it takes children a long time to realize how important we are to them and how much they mean to us. I'm happy she chose Christmas to reach out to you. Enjoy your card! I pray many more will come in the future. Merry Christmas!!!

That's wonderful. I am very happy for you. I have somewhat of an ironic story about Christmas cards. My father sent Christmas cards to my daughter and I. As stated before, he won't invite us for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. It was a very heartless and cruel gesture. It was like saying, " Have a happy Christmas all alone and I'm going to enjoy myself and everybody except the two of you" I could never be that thoughtless and inconsiderate. Sorry to complain but it was so hurtful. Have a very merry holiday season.

So happy for you! Whenever people ask how my family is, (which includes the 8 kids, 16 grands, and 2 great grands) my usual answer is: Well, They are still speaking to each other as well as to ME! What more could I ask for?!! My own personal life was that being the oldest with 3 younger brothers, it wasn't like that at all. When we were all adults, none of them spoke to each other, yet, I was able to keep in touch with them.....must be a "woman thing", ya suppose? LOL

So very happy for you, AussieSapphire! We hope your daughter realizes what a joy it was for you to read "dear Mum" on her card. Sounds like you've been estranged for awhile. Here's hoping and praying that a reconciliation is in store for you, too. Big Hugs!

Leia7, I know first hand how hurtful such a father can be - my oldest daughter has had the same treatment from her father. If he won't change, make Christmas as special as you possibly can be for your daughter and yourself. And focus your celebrations on Jesus' birth.

Minkacat, where in Colorado are you? I live in Aurora, just SE of Denver. Praying for reconciliation with your son. I know how family discord hurts. Fortunately my sons and their families come over for every holiday, but they never speak to me...I don't quite understand. I'm not THAT scary! Lol! At least my grandkids like me!

We did, and will, thank you! Did: Our family usually does everything on Christmas Eve - open stockings and presents, go to Christmas Eve service at our church, and come home to eat a big meal of enchiladas.
Will: Christmas Day - hubby and me in a QUIET house by ourselves! Ahhhhh...
Today was a blast! Everybody was thrilled with their presents, and the adult kids did all the cooking and cleaning! We must have done something right!
I just fell asleep while typing...Must have settled down for a long winter's nap! It is now Christmas morn...Have a blessed Christmas remembering the birth of our Savior!
Being a Baha'i, the story of the three wise men from the east who come to worship the Christ child is one of my favorites. Our tradition holds that these three were Persian Zoroastrian priests who, in keeping with their prophet Zoroaster's teaching, watched for a star in the west that would signalize the coming of another Holy teacher from God. Persia is east of Israel, therefore the guiding star would, to them, be in the west.
They brought the gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The gold must have been a godsend for the Holy Family as they fled from King Herod's decree. The frankincense and myrrh gifts were both indicative of how the priests believed in the holiness of Him they were seeking, for both were used in religious rites and ceremonies for fragrance, ointments and anointing of kings. The very title of Jesus of Nazareth, that is, the Christ, means "the Anointed One".
God revealed to Micah words that prophesied the coming of Christ: "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." (Micah 5:2)
This verse in the Holy Bible speaks of the past appearance of the Holy Spirit who appears as the Word made flesh: "he...whose goings forth hath been from of old, from everlasting." Just as Christ Himself spoke in the voice of the Holy Spirit said that He would come again. Not Jesus born as man again, but the Christ -- the Holy Spirit that has appeared as the Word made flesh "from of old, from everlasting" -- the Spirit of Truth spoken of in John 16:13.
May everyone who will celebrate the birth of Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ Child on Christmas Day remember and be thankful for the three Persian wise men who provided the wherewithal for the Holy Family to flee Herod's decree and recognized the baby Jesus as their Promised One!
This manager scene is before its time. It is an Epiphany scene when the wise men arrived. the stable scene belongs to the shepherds.and angels.
May the angels bring us all a message of peace and love, the end of war and atime of Gods peace.
