Alaska is such beautiful country. it''s sad that this is happening now. We all should be thankful for what we have. The world is beginning to have so many bad things happen.

Prayers being said now. Did these start as forest fires? Here in Colorado, several of my friends lost their homes in the fires we had 2 years ago. It was horrible, but they all survived and have become stronger because of the event. I pray that there are no lives lost in Alaska and that all physical damage be easy to fix.

Annie, thank you. Fires up here are so dangerous - the black spruce is horribly flammable and many of them have died due to insects. Plus, there is so much peat in the ground that the fires can go underground and burn for years like a coal fire. This fire has jumped a river over 100 yards wide, thanks to winds. Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

By the way, we are NOT rich! We live in a middle class neighborhood. This is just how they are building all the homes in Denver these days!

Thanks so much to all of you. This puzzling community is truly supportive! The fires started by human error, probably fireworks up north, a campfire down south. Both are still burning. Over 100 homes have been lost, burned to the ground. Because this is a "remote" area, most don't have insurance - no one will cover them. About the same number are gone in the southern fire, too. My heart aches for the losses - and animals are included in that ache - dogs, cats, horses. So far, no human life has been lost. The fire fighting crews are just fantastic. Your prayers are greatly appreciated and we know God answers them.

Both fires are now under control. People will be allowed to return to their property this Sat., assuming they still have anything standing. 135 homes/buildings were lost along with uncounted domestic animals, but no human deaths due to fire have been reported. No word of my lady up north - she may have made it to Fairbanks before this happened - or her property. Thank you so much for all your prayers. I know they helped.

Wish I had seen this sooner, but be aware I have been thinking of and praying for those threatened by the fires in your state. Hope all is better by now.

Can I get a room or two in there, and do you also furnish cleaning & meals....?

Well another year gone by and another added today!
May have to shut down early today, gulf storm may hit us w/up to 10" of rain according to the morning forecast. Getting very tired of rain!!! Forgot what the Sun look like!
Yes he would he sends his meows...(howls) think he is also tired of all the rain. >^-^< !!!

Yes it is...72 or 71 if I go backwards. We will go out some other day for dinner. We often share my birthday & Fathers Day! Had one of these storms like this several years back, but had not had all the rain before it. So far not lightening with it, but sure that is coming.

Thanks JamieT, yes I have been able to spend almost all day on puzzles, between phone calls. So far it has not been really bad here and there doesn't seem to have much lightening with this. Have had the TV on and they have been giving updates all day. There goes the weather radios, with flash flood warnings for our areas. Spoke to soon..we have already had 2" today.

Thanks to all, don't feel another year older today. We live on the west side of I-35 so we were lucky only got a little over 3" that was good. Things are looking up no rain on the forecast for the next 8 days...WONDERFUL!!! The cake sounds really great tomandray & Crickett sends a Happy Meow to you.

Lydiagintn - we have 8 grandchildren they range from 13 to almost 22. Four of them live here in the area, and the other 1 lives in northen OK and the other 3 live in Ks. Grandpa tries to keep their cars running, and I try to keep grandpa running so he can fix them.
