Saw them often in the Rockies and up here in AK, too. I was hiking one day and looked down beside me for some reason - and a little marmot was hiking right along with me! They have a neat "whistle" call and are often called "whistle pigs".

Aknan --- What a wonderful memory --- hiking with a marmot! I've been to the Rockies and to Alaska, but no marmot for me!
My father-figure adored marmots and would have LOADS of FUN feeding them unsalted peanuts, plus cabbage, carrots, and cauliflower. They even tried to eat my chicken that I had for myself, but I prevented that.
I have a clock, T-shirt, "Savor the Marmots" glass, mug, drink holder, and a stuffed animal with a marmot picture in the middle.
Cute picture. Just back from the vet with one of my kitties--annual check-up. Good and she has gained a little weight since her operation the end of October. Decided to do a puzzle before I go to the grocery store.
If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.
Your thought follows one I remember each day: You can't see the brightness without the dark. You can't see from the mountaintop until you have seen what is in the valleys.

Have a great day.
Thanks for sharing jigsaw puzzle this morning.
