I love this site for many reasons and this is one of them having heard of a menorah but not knowing what it looked like. Thank you Kevin for educating me :)

"To the American People: Christmas is not a time or a season but a state of mind. To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. If we think on these things, there will be born in us a Savior and over us will shine a star sending its gleam of hope to the world.

This is a very traditional menorah, aussie. We have a metal one with 8 dancers holding the candles. The dancers are modernistic, long-limbed, no faces - a quite modern piece of art that we enjoy all year round.

We do learn so much on here. It is like a History lesson within a puzzle.

Thank you, manatee - we really enjoy it, although the candles are rarely lit. The metal has been heat-treated, so colors change as the light changes.
Well, sorry all of you positive folks--but this picture looks like a real fire hazard to me. It looks like whatever it is-- lovely blanket--? may go up in flames at any minute.
Happy holidays anyhow.
