Never had meringue cookies, but my mom use to make the most beautiful meringue to top pies, it was quite an art form, juuuuuust right!

My mom did too. The one I remember the most fondly is the lemon meringue pie she always made me on my birthday. I haven't had one since she died. I could make myself one - I have her recipe but it wouldn't be the same.

My mom always made everyone's favorite dessert for their birthday, too. Mine was pineapple upside down cake, and she baked it in a large cast iron skillet. I can almost taste it now! lol I think my older sister has made these cookies, I know she makes the divinity our mom always made at Christmas time.

My dear aunt used to make meringue pies for my brother. It was just a graham crust shell with the meringue in it. She called them "hypocrite pies" because they were just full of hot air.
