Barbaranne, I'm so sorry to hear you're sick and especially at this time of year (no time of year is a good time to be sick though). While you may be alone physically you will never be alone spiritually - not only will God be with you every moment, each of us (puzzlers) will be thinking special thoughts of you. Oh, Barbaranne, the hospital at Christmas is bad enough but to be in isolation? Very lonely. But also a good time to spend communing with God. No interruptions. Just bask in His love and praise Him for giving us forgiveness for our many sins. Maybe a little dash of self pity would be acceptable. Merry Christmas anyway. God bless you!

Dear Barbaranne: Does that mean you will not be able to have visitors? Will you be able to virtually visit with us? I am so sorry you are sick. My husband and I spent our first married Christmas in the hospital. He had just gotten a hernia operation. I had ovarian cysts removed in a different hospital a few days later. A blessed organization called FISH used to help people with little money by giving them rides. My husband, as soon as he was discharged, had them drive him to my hospital. We spent Christmas in my hospital room--both of us in pain but happy to be alive and together. Is there a relative from outside the nursing home who can come to spend the day or some part of it with you?
I will pray some one is sent to you to brighten your day.

Barbaranne, I'm so sorry you are sick, and isolation makes it even harder, especially at Christmas. You can still come here and visit us, and hopefully your people will find a way to let you know they miss you. Prayers.

Barbaranne, I too am sorry that you are sick and in isolation. Sending prayers your way that you will soon be well and back in the company of friends. Even though you are in isolation from other people, God is with you and wraps His arms lovingly around you. With Him, you are never truly alone.

I am so sorry you are feeling this way. Just remember how Jesus as born, cold and laying in a manger. You will be with able to talk to Him and let Him know how you feel without any guilt. Keep praying and we will all pray with you. But don't give up on Christmas. Remember the real meaning of it and why Jesus was born.

Hi everybody. I'm fairly new to this website. I'd like some advice. I want to take one puzzle and do all the puzzle cuts. What would be a good puzzle to start with? All these puzzles are so much fun, and I love reading everyone's comments. I guess most of you have been doing this for quite a while. What do you think?

Hi cherylabr. In my opinion any of the puzzles that aren't too complicated would probably be good to start with - some that are larger patterns of color blocks or wide stripes.

Hey Cherylabr. Welcome aboard! I hope you find this site as wonderful as I do. I feel as though I have a wonderful bunch of friends on here even though I have not met anyone face to face that I am aware of. How very brave of you to try to do one puzzle with all the different cuts. I've done many of the cuts at least once but not all on one puzzle. Might be easier that way because you will get a better feel for where the colors go. Good luck with that endeavor. Hi everyone, you are all so kind and I do appreciate all that you have said, I am feeling so much better now that the sickness has passed, the bug (norovirus) is very contagious and that is why I am being isolated for the health and safety of the residents. Yes I do live in an Old peoples home (care home) but I am not one of its residents, the home is owned and run by a Religious Order and it is to that, that I belong, I am vowed to obedience otherwise I might be kicking up a storm. I will never give up on the real meaning of Christmas, but would without a second thought give up on the commercal side. During my formative years in the community we spent the day as usual just entertaining a few elderly or lonely people for tea. That was lovely but here we have to make the day special for those who have entrusted their lives into our hands. Thats enough preaching, I will visit you all tomorrow.

cherylabr, welcome to the site, I hope that you will enjoy being part of us. I would suggested to you to find a puzzle that you like and start with the 6 pieces and using that same puzzle go through all the different cuts, give no thought to time just enjoy.

Barbaranne, Glad to hear that you are doing better. and thank you for sharing so much of yourself on this site. And you advice to the new gal, is excellent. I have done most of the cuts and have a favorite few. Try and just enjoy us and the puzzles.

Hi cherylabr--welcome aboard. My advice is try to find a puzzle with lots of color and hard edges. Some of the collections are good. Everybody has different tastes but many of us have said colorful puzzles are the most fun.

Barbaranne, I'm so gratified you're feeling better. Norovirus is no fun. I work in a hospital, and once one person get it it tends to spread like wildfire. I'm glad you're better and those you care for are safe.

Thanks to everyone for your advice. I'm really enjoying this site; however, I'm embarrassed to admit that I have a lot of trouble with 48 USA (lol).

It could be my imagination, but it seems that a lot of the bloggers on this site have a deep faith and devotion to God. I love it...it makes me feel very much at home. I'm attending a university (online) whose mission is evangelization. I'm currently working on the background courses I'll need to enter their MA in Biblical Theology program. I have a long way to go, but the journey is a lot of fun.

Hi cherylabr - welcome to our wonderful group of puzzlers. I know you will enjoy the comraderie on here. I am from Australia, married to an American but lived over there for eight years a long time ago. I always do the USA in the hopes I will learn where all the states are situated and only know about six of the many states in the USA. Australia is the same size as the usa but we only have six states and one territory as compared with the many in the US. One day.....lol - God bless and take care. Hugs.

Aussie ---- One good way to learn the states is to do a jigsaw puzzle of the states. But you need one in which each state is a piece. When it gets to a very little one, like Rhode Island, it may be combined with another adjoining one. That's how I learned the states --- that, and moving around while my father was in the Navy! Another hint ----learn then by sections of the country. New England (northeast corner) is Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island. If I could connect with your address, I will send you a puzzle of the USA.

They are called Christmas crackers, not party crackers (obviously C4J doesn't want to mention the C word:\), and they are pulled by two people and they have a little strip in them that makes a cracking sound when they pull them. Inside is a paper hat, a gift and a corny joke. The English pull crackers at Christmas, tell the jokes and wear the hats (crowns) during Christmas dinner. I hope this helps.
