I too loved that puzzle. It brought back lots of great childhood times..When I was about 10, I went on a train from Toronto to people in the U.S. all along the north side of Lake Ontario, all by my self. I wouldn't do that now with a 10 yr old girl! Boy I miss the old trains! I also live in Sterling Ont. were the tracks were just over the back fence, my uncle was an engineer, he'd wave to me from way up high on that big old black smoker!! Them's the times!
Although it's been quite some time, I usually enjoy travelling by train. My first train rides were before Amtrak, back when most railroads had passenger service along with their freight cars. The first train ride I had was in the mid 1960's on a Missouri Pacific train - there was a man who sold drinks and snacks who walked up and down the aisle - I don't know if there was also a cafe car on the train.
Railroad tracks are so fine. In a jigsaw puzzle they provide a neat linear feature into the picture that is fun to put together. In a picture they make me think of places I've been or would like to go. To sit by a river on a warm day & watch trains go by, and in between watch birds and clouds, and go wading.
