The only two times I ever rode in a cable car was when I was in Israel and wanted to go up to Masada and we went by cable car. The other time was when we came back down from there.

These days it would be hard to get me out of the USA but never the Near East. My brother and his wife went to Israel many years ago to see the Holy Land. I have only been to Canada and England and a half hour just across the border in Mexico which I'd never do now.
My brother in law bought us tickets to go up Sulfur mtn in Banff so we did. No choice there. That car looked a good deal sturdier tham this one.

I know what you mean. It is almost as dangerous to be In Israel as it is to be in the USA. I went in 1987 and 1989.

When I was in the cable car, I stood in the middle so I couldn't see out on the way up and down. There were people even taller than me: 5'4" or 1.625 meters.
When I was young and foolish I would think this a good idea but age has wised me some. I have developed a slight fear of heights. I was at one time a house builder and thought nothng of working high but now I do not even like ladders
I think as we age jas, we become more aware of the dangers of doing certain things, and rather than suffer the consequences we wise up and only stick to most things that are safe. Hugs.

Did you have a bad fall?

Yes, but didn't do any permanent damage. Just sore muscles at the moment. Hugs.

The reply order got mixed up, Aussie. Hugs to you, too, but I knew about your fall from your thread. I was asking jas6415 if a bad fall had caused this change in attitude.
I love riding on these things when I used to ski. But the lifts were not closed up like this...when you came to your spot you had to jump off and ski down the mountain......fun
I remember the first time I took a chair lift. I had only skiied once before and that had been on a beginners hill. This place's beginner's slope was a mountain. I was so spooked about just getting off the chair lift without getting hit in the head or crashing that I wasn't even thinking about coming down the mountain. I got off fine and snow plowed all the way down. After that I stopped being so scared.

I was scared the first time, but like you, after the first I became addicted and loved it.

We went several times to that ski place and really enjoyed it. At the time we weren't living in the area. A few years later we moved there and couldn't afford to ski any more.
