Many birds ended up almost extinct in the late 1800's because the ladies wanted beautiful feathers in their hats. It's a wonder these fellows didn't get killed for theirs. I doubt if any bird feathers could furnish a more beautiful combination of colors.
He is so beautiful. We had some of the meanest rooster when we were growing up. One would sit on the fence post & wait for my brother to get out of school where he had to walk over an acre to get home & he'd fight him all the way. Then two other at another place would fight us when we tried to get to the outdoor privy. We used board & hit him under the chin. Being whiteroocks, when they puffed up they look like a white peonies. beautiful & mean.
Most of our roosters ended up in the stew pot, feisty. Just didn't need their hassle when we wanted only eggs, not chicks. Seems like every one of them was mean, too.

Loved your story. My Grandmother had a roaster like that. When he got my little cousin on his head he ended up in the stew pot. LOL
Reminded me of my mother. She painted a picture of a rooster like that on a big round ceramic plate for my aunt (her sister) that hangs on her kitchen wall in Connecticut. Will be going up there to see my cousin next month so, since both my mother and aunt have passed, not sure what she will do with it. It doesn't fit in my decor Love the coloring on this one.
