I used to live down the block from a beach but it was one of those kind that are just flat sand and flat water to the horizon. I never painted it but I did fish off the jetties once. It was morning and the baby size blue fish were swimming in the swells all silver and shimmering.
Now that's what I call a really good painting. It isn't in vogue these days. Most galleries would call it sentimental. Well, I like sentimental. I especially like the lighting on the cliffs and through the waves. That reminds me of a sunset I saw the day before we flew home from the Canadian Rockies. You could cut off the whole left side with the boats and it would still be a wonderful painting.
