Hi dbnc. Sorry you had such a bad day. I get those, too, so I know how you feel. I found a really nice book on ships at the library. It is all illustrated and written by hand and gives the most wonderful account of all things that go on on a ship like this one. It's called Tall Ships of the World:an illustrated encyclopedia by C. Wilbur Keith. It's soft cover. I really think you would enjoy it if you can get it at your library.
This is the type of ship my dad liked to make as a model. The models he did required a huge amount of work. Imagine tying the knots in that rigging when the scale is so small the ropes are only threads.
What are your hobbies? Mine are ceramics, gardening, painting, making costume jewelry. doing puzzles, nature walks.
I paint, crochet, knit, and tat! I have a dog and a cat too!

I make Christmas ornaments, make greeting cards, jewelry (beading), and fusing glass. Just started up with crochet again but haven't been doing that much. I used to cross-stitch but it has been a long time - need better glasses!

Sorry this is slang word in yorkshire and means taking to one's neighbour.or friends
Some time true yks people do this and it seems that our grandparents used this sort of talk a lot and it seems to be pass down as one gets older, I WILL GIVE A TRUE YORKSHIRE SAYING (example, put peg in ole, means shut the door and another was you born in a field, same meaning as above.)

Good sayings. Born in a field is similar to our born in a barn. I think field is more appropriate.
I've heard the word natter before but only in the contest of someone chattering away to no effect--mostly to onesself. Thansk for clearing that up, Santaclaus.

Pixipixil this so strange, our Dad's had the same hobbies. I watched my Dad.with his crippled fingers tie those knots in the rigging. Up to the crows nest and 6 or 7 or more to the very top. I try to keep them in good condition

The ships my dad built would have been tooo big to keep at our home so I told my brother to take both when my dad died and he has taken exceptional care of them.
