Sushi's ok, but I LOVE sashimi. The fish must be very fresh - and believe me, I can tell! Each type of fish has a different flavor; the texture is smooth and firm and it's one of my favorite dinner options. However, it's also kind of pricey, so we don't have it very often, and for some reason, I don't make it at home, I guess if I did, it wouldn't be special any more!

I've never heard "sashimi". Guess I might have to look that up--or have you tell me about it.

Sashimi is the thinly-sliced raw fish without rice, which is served on the side. Sushi is the raw fish or vegetables wrapped with rice and seaweed. The plate shown in the puzzle also has nori - that's the shrimp (cooked, BTW) over a ball of rice. Wasabi is the darker green horseradish paste and the pickled ginger is just to clear your palate if you've gotten too much wasabi This is a very good presentation that would easily serve 2 people. And now, you've made me hungry and dinner is a long time away!

Don't care for any of that. You can have some for me also. Why would you want raw fish? Not me.

Elijah, it's probably because I'm an adventurous eater, having lived in many countries with varying cuisines. Plus, here in Alaska, our fish is FRESH, often bought right off the boat that caught it. Hard to be halibut and salmon that way.

I have been to Alaska 3 times. Loved it. I also love seafood, but COOKED!
