Like most of my fellow puzzlers....I also have a collection of shells in my home. My bath is where most of my shells are on display, along with a lot of other beach elements.
No, they can actually be found in these colors. You'd have to find them just recently out of the ocean to have the brightest colors. Once they've been in the sun on the beach they would start to fade out.
I have a shell collection that takes up a 6 ft shelf in my "playroom." I've collected each one. Whenever I'm at the beach I swear I'm not going to look for any more shells but....

Trynfindit and aknan - thanks for that information. I guess I've only seen shells that have faded - the few that I've seen are usually an off-white color - except for mussels.

My mother even has a red shell in her collection. It's a gorgeous bright red! She got that on her Barbados trip.
