I hope that there's a marked trail, because it looks like this skier is approaching a bunch of trees. I was tempted to take some ski lessons when I went to Austria during one Easter, but, because of back and neck issues, decided that it probably wasn't worth it - plus, because of warmer than normal winters at the time in Europe, the only skiing in the area was on glaciers. Plus, I would have had to buy a bunch of ski clothes because I don't know how practical wearing a knee-length wool coat would have been.
JamieT, I can just see you schussing down the slopes with your knee-length coat flapping behind you! I learned to ski in Austria many years ago and my instructor was an alternate for the '64 Olympics. Great fun. Skied for years, but had to give it up when my hip was replaced. Too risky.

Jamie, that would be fun to see! This person is probably traversing the slope, and they'll turn again before they reach the trees, staying in the cleared area.

Aknan - when I was there, some of the venues for the, I think 1976 Winter Olympics were still in use. I do remember seeing the ski jump platform when I went to Igls, a small village near Innsbruck. The Olympic housing was supposedly a rough neighborhood, but, I'm not sure what's considered "rough neighborhoods" in Innsbruck.
Shortly after I dated a girl-friend - she is now my wife, she left to go on a pre-arranged holiday to Israel with a group of people.
I went to meet her aeroplane at Gatwick (London) on her return, and was waiting for her to disembark.
I watched an earlier 'plane load of passengers dis-embarking from a trip to the Austrian ski slopes.
Two of those passengers were in wheel-chairs, one was on crutches with a leg in plaster, two or three had arms in plaster and another couple were walking with the aid of sticks / crutches.
I decided there and then that skiing was NOT for me!
Never learned to ski either. But this is beautiful. We used to have a small ski hill near here and you could watch the skiers while having dinner. Great fun!!! ~
