For some reason this made me think of a very old song by Burl Ives called Lavender Blue. Here are some of the words.
Lavender Blue (Dilly Dilly)
Burl Ives
Lavender blue, dilly, dilly
Lavender green
If I were king, dilly, dilly
I'd need a queen
Who told me so, dilly, dilly
Who told me so
I told myself, dilly, dilly
I told me so
If your dilly, dilly heart
Feels a dilly, dilly way
And if you answer, yes
In a pretty little church
On a dilly, dilly day
You'll be wed in a dilly, dilly dress
Please tell me some of you remember this song so I won't feel quite so old lol
I remember him singing that song very well, AS.It didn't come out until 1945. He was the first one to record it.
We have snow today also. We will get more snow then it will change to rain - ANOTHER 4-letter word.

Wow, no wonder rock 'n roll overtook this music! My mother, who was born in 1912, really disliked the music of the 40's. She was mesmerized by Elvis Presley and those whose records filled the radio and tv "airwaves" afterwards. She truly enjoyed a music genre with "life in it".

I remember it well and seeing it posted made me feel young again...have a great day...Alice
Lavenders blue is a 17th century English folk song. I used to sing it as a child as a nursery rhyme. There are lots of versions of the words. There is another verse. Our version of it was - Call up your men, dilly dilly.Set them to work. Some to make hay, dilly dilly. Some with the cart. Interesting.
