Every "downtown" should have a clock like this on a prominent street corner. I remember one in Seattle (I think). It lent charm to its surroundings.
If I were a City Planner --- there would be more than one!
This is for abacii - more suitable for the next puzzle but not sure if you were on it.
We have two sides to the island where I live - one is the calm side (close to my home) and the other is the surf side about three or four kilometers away and that is where I get a lot of inspiration for the poems. Here is one I hope you enjoy.
WIND SWEPT SANDS
by HK (Aussiesapphire)
Balmy summer day
Ocean breezes sweeping gently across the sand,
Shaping the dunes
And smoothing everything in it's path.
Waves relentlessly pounding the beach.
Peaceful sounds as they wash the shore
And retreat once more to join the sea
In a never-ending cycle.
The sound has a calming effect
Transporting one into a virgin realm
Which seemingly has never been entered before,
Washing away cares and the stressors of life,
Bringing about a serenity and peace
Found in no other way.
The touch of the rolling waves upon the shore
Almost like that of a lover
Whose sole quest is to please.
The buoy a little way out to sea
Bobbing up and down at the mercy of the undulating waves
A pelican perched on top enjoying the free ride.
And when it is time to go
A peace pervades one's being
Because of the time spent
On the wind swept sands.
Nice...My late daughter in law collected cocks and had them in and on every nook cranny and wall of their house. They all functioned and she would wind them daily
Hi jas - when I was living in the USA I worked with a beautiful woman who collected clocks and she and her husband (who was stationed in Germany for a while) and another couple went into East/West side and brought out 40 antique clocks and when I met her she had 14 of them left and got me interested in them. She has now passed away but she was a very special person. I think I was living in Shreveport, Louisiana at the time, long time ago but she left a lasting impression on me. Hugs.
I was just think this earlier this morning. I am appreciating my time, but it seems that it is moving much more quickly than when I was younger, raising 2 daughters and working.....I don't understand!! But still enjoying my life.
