Beautiful birds but so very loud. Stayed at a place a few years ago and no one got to sleep in with three of these birds making themselves heard.
"What the vast majority of American children needs is to stop being pampered, stop being indulged, stop being chauffeured, stop being catered to. In the final analysis it is not what you do for your children but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings." — Ann Landers

I've been extremely lucky having been in the army when I was a boy of fourteen.
Boy, did Ann Landers have it right! Great quote, aussie.
When my Dearly Beloved was a boy scout in San Diego, the overnight camps were held just outside the San Diego zoo. He and a couple of other reprobates climbed over the zoo fence at night, pulled tail feathers from the peacocks and sold them the next day to tourists for $5 a feather. Wonder they didn't get sent to juvenile court!
Supposed to be up to 40 degrees tonight with 1/2" of rain expected - on top of all the snow we have. Driving Friday and through the weekend may be really dicey.

Love your quotes, Aussie. Today Ann Landers is my favorite. The phenomenon she brings up is why so many children of well off parents live miserable, non productive lives. The kids need to learn to do what needs doing in their sphere. They need to learn to interact positively with others and not feel that they are special. They need to pursue an education that will prepare them to support themselves.
There used to be a street called Genius Lane in Winter Park, Fl that you could go on and see all kinds of peacocks. Now it is a private street. We used to have some in our neighborhood, but haven't seen any for a long time.
