The soothing sound of the surf
As the tidal thrust of the sea
Rolls the water on the shore
Relentlessly sweeping away
Any evidence of human existence.
Cleansing the sand of shells and debris,
Footprints and child-constructed sand castles,
Making it pure and seemingly pristine.
In the distance -
The horizon with ships clinging tenaciously
And frothy, cotton wool clouds
Resting just above what appears to be a clear, straight line
Marking the division between sea and sky.
Islands far away in the distance
Enshrouded in an enveloping mist,
Making one wonder what mysteries lay in waiting
For intrepid travellers.
Shrieking gulls flying by
Sometimes hovering and floating
Waiting for some tender morsels of food
Left by happy family picnickers....
A beautiful spring day,
If one takes the time
To drink in the beauty.

Very good, aussie - you've caught the essence of the seaside with your words. Hugs!

Thanks for the beautiful poem. It was written by a friend of Mrs. PW and me. That poet has written some other wonderful poems, too. Tell her thanks. ;-)

Aussie...if I drank in all that beauty...I'd be drunk for a week! Seriously, such beautiful words & photography MUST remind us all of our Creator. He gives and sometimes he takes. But it is all part of His Plan.X0X0

Thanks BayGrannie. My friend Lyn from NZ has decided to go ahead with the surgery for cancer as it has not spread to any other part of her body. Will be in hospital three weeks. I would appreciate your continued prayer support. Hugs/

Aussie--will do. And the mere fact that it hasn't spread IS great. Make sure to take care of yourself so you can help take care of Lyn. Will be very painful. Our friends are part of us & you can be an advocate for her care b/c of your strength!

Drink In The Beauty
Brisk sea breezes
Tenderly caressing one's skin
Running it's cool salty fingers through one's hair.
The soothing sound of the surf
As the tidal thrust of the sea
Rolls the water on the shore
Relentlessly sweeping away
Any evidence of human existence.
Cleansing the sand of shells and debris,
Footprints and child-constructed sand castles,
Making it pure and seemingly pristine.

Resting just above what appears to be a clear, straight line
Marking the division between sea and sky.
