Dubrovnic and Greece were two of my favorite places to visit. I would love to go back but it has gotten more difficult over the years and visiting my girls takes up most of my travel money. Old age doesn't help either. I love to do the travel and garden puzzles best. It brings back wonderful memories. Pompeii was fun. My grandchildren played store using the counters that were left and pebbles, imagining as kids do. It was beautiful. We went in March and the poppies were blooming among the ruins. Nice talking to you. I have lived alone for the past seven years, since my husband died. Thanks. Enjoy each day. There is something wonderful every day.
This would have been an amazing place thousands of years ago. It's amazes me how some man made structures can last for centuries and centuries - through all sorts of weather, wars, etc. Now, we will build things and think very little about tearing those structures down after a few decades.
The Temple of Poseidon at Sounion is the best half-day trip you can do out of Athens. The temple of Sounion sits above the beach on a mountain that juts out into the sea and was dedicated to Poseidon. It is hard to imagine a more perfect setting for an ancient temple, in particular one dedicated to the god of the sea.
The temple is of Doric style and was built in the 5th Century BC, supposedly on the location of an even older temple.
