One of the first jobs I ever had was working for a debt collector and one of his employees wore a nylon see through blouse. At 16, I was mortified LOL. Then one day I walked past the boss's office just as he planted a kiss on this womon's forehead - next day I got fired!!!! Good way to start your employment history lol - this was back in the early fifties.
Ms Diller's humour was always directed at herself or her husband Fang - never cruel to others.

Yeah why would you be fired? I don't think that blouse is appropriate either. I've had jobs as well and don't even mention them in my resume. Worked for a candle company, vegetable canning plant. Honestly at the time I was sick of seeing peas and corn. When I had the job I said oh I'll never eat peas and corn ever again. 12-14 hr. days 6 days a week. I was so liked by the staff that I was asked to come back. During the interview I was asked to take a color blind test.

I am sure it was very peas-ful working in that vegetable canning plant. My vegetables grow on a plant also.

Lol it was so loud and noisy in there that you could hardly hear someone. Before starting work there was a mandatory orientation meeting. The staff passed out booklets on the rules. Then went through the rules. One rule was absolutely no fighting - then told they won't ask for details. Terminated on the spot. The staff mentioned another job which made me nervous - the subj. was sanitation and the staff member said that if you came in contact with a chemical you could lose your leg. After the meeting I spoke to the staff member and told him I was nervous and he said oh sorry I exaggerated it - no you won't lose a limb.

But it was probably still hard to leg-go of that image in your mind.
