This reminded me of the bass violin I have in my bedroom, although this is a violin. I wrote a fantasy story about the bass on HubPages. The title is "The Story of Daisy, the Double Bass."

You're invited to read it, if you desire. It's a cute story, even if I do say so myself.

This is a good instrument for kids to learn music. I detest bluegrass music but love much of violin music.

Fiestyolelady I used to play violin, but had to stop because I couldn't read music, learned to play by ear. That didn't work to long so I had to stop. Love strings and horns.Just love all types of music ( except rap )

Love most violin concertos. Beethoven, Kachaturian, Saint Saens (skated to that) & Tchaikovsky are favs. I like classical & show music, &old pops before heavy metal came in. Not much else. Not even jazz.

I learnt violin when I was over in the UK. Then they put me on piano. All because of my long fingers! Originally started with the recorder. And yes, I learnt how to play music! There was FACE and EGBDF. I still remember. Have a good day everyone and be safe. Hugs!

Took piano lessons as a kid. I recall the keys A, B, C, D, E, F, G and then there's sharps and flats. Recall doing scales as well. Remember my teachers as well. My sister took flute and then quit.

When I went back to college in my 40's for music, I took a course to get me ready and when it came to reading notation the teacher didn't give us aids like every good boy deserves fudge because there's no time for that. It would be too slow. He said "Just learn it." It becomes as natural as recognizing letters of the alphabet but you have to keep at it. Theory class where you study the music without trying to perform it is the best help.

FACE and EGBDF or Every Good Boy Deserves Food. That is how I learnt the notes. Then it was onto the placement on the lines, the sharps and the flats. You know :)

What a gut wrenching reply, Parson. I bet you have me pegged as someone who fiddles around with other people's ideas.

I got the staff together to see how to respond to your pun-ishment, because in AR-pegio, we do thing differently. In fact, we have, in desperate times, even resorted to throwing such people over a clef. So make a note of that, pixipixil.

I could sure use some soothing violin music to soothe my frazzled nerves right now. Been working on employment taxes for weeks now culminating today with an inability to print the W2 for my caregiver. Hopefully tomorrow? The annual FUTA (federal unemployment tax) was by far the worst for me! It will soon be over until time for the quarterly tax deposits.

God bless you all and may all your number crunching result in fine grains of sand.

Not my favorite instrument.

To listen to or to play? My parents made me take violin in grammar school because we owned one and they didn't want to pay rental for something else. It was full-sized and made my teeth hurt. Naturally it was way too big for me also and that was the end of my playing an instrument. One year of pain was enough.

In the hands of a master to be sure. When I had to take a course in it for my music degree I was petrified the violin would hurt my teeth but it didn't and I even got to liking it a bit--but I was majoring in voice and already in my mid 40's by then.

Our youngest daughter took violin classes for a few years. She was running down the hall, slipped and her elbow took a big hit. Ended up in a cast while it mended. After that. it was too painful for her to practice. But now she is thinking about picking up the violin again. Keeping my fingers crossed.
