Sunsetsky: Join the Navy. I made 2 Med cruises. Plus a North Atlantic, a few just off the Atlantic seaboard and I lost track on the Caribbean ones (at least 6 of them! )
My daughter, 2 grandchildren and I are doing a 10 night Med cruise in June, with 6 nights in Barcelona beforehand then flying from Athens (last port) back to Rome for 4 more nights! Did you love it? what ports did you visit and what did you do?

I did love it but didn't have all the time they had, we went to Venice, Athens, Istanbul, Mykonos, Naples, Rome, Florence, Toulouse and Barcelona to end, Trouble is too much to see in not enough time! The trips can get expensive, just make sure if you do your own thing have it very well planned, where, when and how. You will have a great time.

My daughter is a planner extraordinaire! We always rent apts. when we stay in a particular place for more than 3 days, so we have apts already booked for Barcelona and Rome. We shop at the local markets and make breakfast and dinner in the apt and only eat lunch out while sightseeing. we rent small cars and always use one rental company in Europe. We use local, respected tour companies for excursion rather than the ship's tours and when feasible, we self-guide using public transportation or rent a car for the day. We found airfare on Turkish Air for half the price of other airlines, although we will be traveling for a much longer length of time. I'm anticipating a fabulous 3 weeks! Sunsetsky, check out Carnival Vista- they will be in the Med from May thru (I think) Sept this summer. They are almost always cheaper than any other cruise line and basically only their newest ship does the Med the first few months of sailing. They have another new one due to sail in 2018.
Oh, that's the way to travel! <sigh> Beats playing sardines on a plane any day :-) Came to New Zealand form UK by boat in 1959 - magic! (and that was only tourist class AKA cheap class Lol! )
Hi jiggler, I also came to N.Z.as an immigrant but I was lucky enough to come on the very first plane full of young people. In those days single girls came free and single men paid 10 pound and couples paid 20 pounds so we had a few couples who were to marry when they reached N.Z.This was in November 1963.I often wonder where these people are today I married a kiwi and had two children In 1971 we sailed to England stayed 2 years and sailed home again back to N.Z.
Nice one for a Cruise it is a great time going on a holiday this way always lots to do for children and Others as well I loved my Cruises with my husband till he past away.
