Beautiful, but (for me) scary animals. So much power.

Ir sounds like you would ger horse-terical if the equine came running up to you, AS.You are not alone. Many people are afraid of them. I grew up around all kinds of animals - including horses, cows, pigs, etc.
Groucho Marx was so funny - on stage, in vaudeville, in movies, and on the show, "You Bet Your Life."

That was a funny show! I remember watching that on our black & white TV. Good memory!
Looking through a horse breed book I have, the closest to this photo is one of a Highland pony. At first sitght I thought he was an Arabian but they are darker and don't have such a thick mane.
I don't know anything about horse. I'm just comparing him to what's in the book.
This is one reason I love living in the country. There are some beautiful horses not far my house as well as cows, mules, donkeys, and even chickens crossing the road. We had to stop the car in the middle of backroad as to not hit someone's chickens!! We have had to stop for cows in the middle of the road and horses as well. Love this life!!
To people closer to the city we are considered"out in the sticks" but although we drive past horses, deer, turkeys, geese, and sometimes goats out on the hills, (on occassion, not every day) we are really a lake area suburb with houses jammed together tooth by jowel. To me the country is when you have to walk five minutes (or more) down the road to reach the next home. We had that once and always hoped to have it again but now that we are in our 70's my husband has planted his feet against moving.
I thought the same thing ctjan - if that were a human, I'd wonder if it was a wig!

I know which breed you're referring to. I did see one man in a horse competition. He had trained to dance to music - then music changed and the rider changed his moves. Andrea Halstreand - it's on Youtube.
