Reminds me of my childhood. Had to haul water in a barrel.

Tshepherd24, I did the Windmill at Sunset and pulled it up so I could get a good look. We also had corn but not next to the windmill. It is a pretty sight with sun going down behind it. Puzzlers, I wrote about how I climbed our windmill when I was a kid. I also climbed around on the metal bars that went around it to hold it up and could see a little bit of bars going up the left side that I climbed up. If anyone wants to read how crazy I was climbing things just read May 1 comments I wrote to tshepherd24.

I can remember when we brought water up from the windmill to the house in large wooden. I hated pumping.

This is the way we got our water which was quite a ways from the house & barn. Use to bring it to the animals in big wooden barrells on a skid pulled by horses. in n west Missouri

Our windmill was real close to the house in Iowa and when I got big enough I carried buckets of water to the house for drinking. We had running water from a big cement hole in the ground for bathing, etc. Maybe called cistern. We moved when I was 14 so didn't have to do that any more. Sounds you had it rougher than me but found memories living there.

Well, that windmill and farmland that it's on is located somewhere in the Midwest. I never get tired of seeing sights like that where I live.

Tshepherd24, I grew up in Iowa until 14. We had a windmill and had to carry our drinking water in from it. Did my share. It had steps up one side. Not the steps like you would think of. My dad had to go to the top and climb over the board around it as you can see in the picture to get to the very top to fix it. Crazy!!! I loved to climb to the top of the barn, the silo, on the roof of the house, and the windmill. My dad kept taking the steps off so I couldn't climb. The day came when I could climb anyway so when my folks were gone I would climb about halfway and could see for miles. It was 70 feet high so I didn't go any higher. I was an only child so I entertained myself that way. It's a wonder I didn't kill myself once. A couple of my friends were over and we went up to the second floor of the barn where the hay was stored. We played tag and I slipped and was heading in the air straight for the holes where they through the hay down to the cows. There was kind of a ladder and my head hit it and stopped me from going any further and just dropped on some hay. We never told my folks. This picture reminded me of the good old days??

We didn't have a silo. I think they are tall metal buildings. Corn crib is what I meant. It was open in the middle so trucks could drive in. Inside there was a ladder I would climb. Then I would get on top of the corn. Now that I think back I could have sunk into it maybe. I was nuts. I remember a story dad told that probably when he was in his twenties working the farm he was climbing that same ladder and a skunk was climbing down. Well so was he climbing down fast then. It was a three generation farm then dad sold it to move us to Kansas so I could go to a Christian school we heard about. I kind of wish we would have stayed there because I liked living the farm life. tshepherd24, If you don't mind where did you live in the Midwest?

Interesting and great story becky. I currently live in north central Missouri with my wife Jrea73, which is where she's from. Before that, I was born and lived many years in Central California. I always longed to see and experience moments like I do now. I also longed for a wife like her. All of my dreams came true a little over a decade ago when I met her. I never get tired of her, or where I live, considering the place where I came from. Everything in my life right now is a dream come true every single day.

You're welcome becky. You're absolutely right. I give God all of the glory for it. I wouldn't be where I am and what I'm doing if it wasn't for Him. Thank you and you enjoy puzzling too. :-)

I love this puzzle, it just appeals to me right now. We never lived way out in the country except when I was about 3-4 when we had an outhouse in which I discovered a snake when I went to use it one afternoon (something I will NEVER forget). It is just so peaceful and "right". Have a day and week of peace, serenity, joy, friendship, love, and many blessings.
