Happy New Year. Drizzly rain here now and only 55 degrees. Not Florida weather. Tree is put away. A few more decorations to put away and I'm done. We are to have cold weather all week.
55 sounds good to me..Our high here is predicted to be 18 degrees...Way up here in the pacific northwest

It's all a matter of perspective. I'm also in Florida (central) and we don't have heat in our house - rarely need it. But when it gets cold, the inside temperature can be in the low 60's.

It got up to 1 today. We keep our heat at 65 during the day and turn it back to 58 at night. Like to be cool while we sleep :).

Do you have heaters? I have extras that I don't use. I needed them for our back room that wasn't heated and my mother loved that room. Now they are in the garage. Do you have AC? I hope so.

It was minus 14 F this morning. It eventually got up to a plus 12. I transferred my porch plants to the basement yesterday because of the frigid forecast. I remembered I had a grow lamp from our first house and got a new bulb. The plants look all beat up. I hope they pull through.

We have a space heater in the bathroom and a window ac unit in our bedroom for the hot months, otherwise it's fans for the rest of the house and dress warm for the cold times. Also will bake stuff when it's cold.
Hope everybody manages to keep warm where it's really cold.

Wow that's cold, but we have been setting lows here in Oklahoma and our temps in the 20's & 10's us not normal for us. So heat is running almost of the time & humidifier is running here. Not sure I want to see the gas bill next month!

I'm sure I don't want to see the electric bill when it comes. Also Duke Energy wants to raise our rates. My last 2 bills were fine, but this next one will make up for the last 2 low ones. You just can't win sometimes. One cat on my bed and 2 on their "window" beds in my computer room.

Both our gas & our elec. are on averaging but the elec. runs much more than the gas. Our elec. company just sent 50 truck w/2 men in each one to Puerto Rico, glad our gas is another company.
Heat, dryer & hot water are gas every thing else is elec. & having to have new sewer but in make a dent in our savings. We have been having to drip a couple faucet's overnight with these pipes are not real deep usually we don't have it this cold for as long as this has been. Sounds like the girls are doing fine....

I just looked at this I realized the way the it sounded like they should not sent them, what I should have said hope we don't get an ice storm and the here will have more work for those still here. I thought it was great they sent them to help them out!

Not to worry. I don't think anyone thought you begrudged sending help to Puerto Rico, CatLady.
Anyone else get to watch fireworks last night? I live on the second floor, so from my balcony I got a nice show. I didn't care for the booming firecrackers and whatever else was being noisy, but I enjoyed the fireworks. Living in the wild, wild, west (lol) every year we get PSA's about not shooting firearms up in the air in celebration of the new year, or 4th of July. The bullets can actually wound someone when they descend. I'm sure guns are some of the noises I heard last night.
Went to bed around 10. Wasn't feeling good yesterday and felt worse today for most of the day. I'm better at the moment. Love fireworks tho.
You're right about the bullets, rahrah.

Hope you get to feeling better soon, pix. I've had a weird "cold" this past week; doesn't act like a 'real' cold.

I've been feeling the same as you two. It keeps coming and going. Not sick enough to go to the doc, but not well enough to actually get anything done around the house. Here's to better days for us all!

Flu?

Be careful. trynfindit. If it lingers more than a week see the doctor--it could be pneumonia. There is more than one kind. I had it as a kid and it came on gangbusters at night and I suddenly couldn't breath but this other kind is slow moving and doesn't seem like much until like the frog in the slowly heating water you are cooked.
Hope everybody manages to keep warm where it's really cold.
