I used to walk across a trestle like that when I was young [several years ago lol] on my way to school. We would try to walk on the track the whole way across without falling off. That was one way of keeping track of the trains.
Of course, my kids think I was always old - even when I was in my 20s and 30s. ;-)))

When we would get home from walking on the trestle, my mother always insisted that we remove our boots so we wouldn't track the snow into the house.

Did she rail at you if you did?

She thought she had trained us better than that, but we would forget sometimes.

There were tracks across the street from the church, so even the brides wore a train during the wedding. It was attached to the veil. Veil, that's all I have to say at this moment.
