We went to the NC mountains after Christmas hoping to see snow and got drizzle and rain. Came back to Florida and tonight we have a chance of snow flurries! LOL.

I have often thought "WHY do I bother to watch the weather! ) They say we are going to have snow flurries and we get nothing. Wake on Christmas morning and we have1 inch of snow on the ground! ( this was in 2011 Jan) Weather man said nothing of snow at all. Listen snow in Alabama is NEWS. We close schools, business close. Its a big deal here.

Same here (n.e. Fla) when it snows. Everything closes down and we all marvel at the sight.
When I was in the 8th grade we had a huge ice storm during the night. The next day the sun shown through the ice-covered tree branches and our neighborhood looked like a fantasy world. I got the biggest kick at the sound of leaves, each covered with a coat of ice, as I popped them between my hands. As an ice-covered branch would fall from the top of a tall pine tree the sound was awesome - a loud pop as the branch broke but then the tinkling and popping of ice as the branch fell to the ground. A memorable day.

I, too, remember an ice storm. Such a treat --- if you didn't have to go anyplace (which you couldn't) and if you had no damage. The world looked like it was full of diamonds!
